English 105

English 105 and 106 are 2-credit, pass/fail companion courses (offered by the Writing Center) that you can take alongside English 101 or English 102. They are designed to give you consistent, personalized writing support throughout the semester. These credits count toward graduation and represent an incredible value.

When you enroll, you'll be paired with one of our graduate assistant tutors, discuss your academic writing goals and needs, and get to work with a combination of individual consultations and workshops tailored to you. This might consist of something like:

  • 8 individual consultations: one-on-one sessions with the same tutor each time, so they get to know your writing and goals
  • 8 small-group workshops: interactive sessions focused on practical writing skills you can use right away

This extra support helps you:

  • Build confidence in your writing process
  • Get regular feedback on class assignments
  • Strengthen your skills in research, drafting, revising, and editing
  • Prepare for more advanced writing in your major

How it works:

  • Meets once a week throughout the semester (a combination of workshops + one-on-one tutorials)
  • Pass/Fail grading (based on participation and attendance)
  • Credits count toward graduation
  • No extra tuition if you’re under the full-time 18 credit band

Why take English 105?
If you want more time to focus on your writing, regular feedback from the same tutor, and a low-pressure way to improve your skills while earning credit, English 105 is the best deal on campus!
