English 100
The Writing Center works closely with CSU's First-Year Writing Â鶹´«Ã½ to help English 100 students build strong, lasting writing habits. English 100 is designed to support your growth as a writer, giving you extra time, feedback, and practice to prepare for success in future courses.
As part of the course, students are required to visit the Writing Center for six tutoring appointments during the semester. These sessions give you one-on-one time with a tutor to work on any stage of your writing process—brainstorming, drafting, revising, or polishing.
In the past, there have been three required workshops that accompany the required sessions. Workshops are optional this semester (Fall 2025) while we redesign them. Once complete, the three interconnected workshops will cover essential academic writing skills:
- Academic Integrity: understanding plagiarism, responsible AI use, ethical collaboration, etc.
- Source Integration: effectively and seamlessly quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing sources
- Citations: what they are, why they matter, how to create them, and where to include them in your work
Our goal is to have these new workshops ready for launch soon, so future English 100 students can benefit from these updated, interactive learning opportunities. In the meantime, feel free to discuss any of these topics with WC consultants!
Whether you're visiting the Writing Center for your required sessions or just want extra support, we're here to help you grow as a confident, capable writer. Make an appointment today!
When booking in-person or online sessions, be sure to check in Starfish which tutors are in-person, online, or offer both, so you pick the right type of appointment. For written feedback sessions, just fill out the form with as much detail as possible. The more information your tutor has, the more targeted and thorough the feedback will be.
You can also schedule a session by emailing us at WritingCenter@csuohio.edu or calling us at 216-687-6981.
